Old Sleuth
Harlan Page Halsey (1837-1898), who also wrote under the pseudonyms Doesticks Junior, Old Sleuth and Judson R. Taylor, was an American author. He was the creator of the Detective Old Sleuth, who appeared in detective serials and dime novels throughout the late nineteenth-century. His works include: Annie Wallace; or, The Exile of Penang (1857), Something to Wear and Some Other Things (1857), The Bankers, Their Vaults and the Robbers (1873), Old Sleuth, the Detective (1874), Macon Moore: The Southern Detective (1881), Phil Scott: The Indian Detective (1882), The Confessions of an Imp (1887), Gipsy Blair: The Western Detective (1892), Oscar the Detective (1895), Flyaway Ned (1895), A Desperate Chance (1897), Two Wonderful Detectives; or, Jack and Gil's Marvelous Skill (1898), The 'Dock Rats' of New York (? ) and Cad Metti: The Female Detective Strategist (? ).
