Showdown at St. Andrew's Phil Porter
Showdown at St. Andrew's
Phil Porter
In a small, rural parish in the Midwest during the late 1950s, Father John Donohue is eager to make an impact at his first assignment. His work proves to be so challenging, however, that he begins to question his ability and purpose. In the midst of mounting confusion, there is a showdown with God one quiet afternoon in the school gymnasiumâ"a showdown that strengthens his commitment and his assurance of God's love. Father John then finds the resolve to follow his heart. At the same time, he has to deal with some painful consequences of his decision. He takes himself out of the running for more prestigious grooming within the diocese and instead accepts reassignment to a rugged mission outpost. Yet, for Father John, this is just the opportunity he seeks to truly live out his purpose to serve God.
