Medical school left Leslie with a diploma, a new suit, and a nascent case of typhoid. As he convalesces, he hatches a plan to postpone the start of a career as a surgeon and instead embarks on an epic voyage of adventure, mystery and romance on the high seas.

When Leslie signs up as a butler aboard the private yacht Ella, she hopes to clean decks and polish brass. Instead, she ends up trying to solve a murder case. Everyone on board is suspect: the volatile captain, the seductive but distant Miss Elsa Lee, the restless Mr. Turner, the second mate who disappears at the beginning of the trip and is supposed lost at sea, and they are all trapped in the middle of the ocean with the real killer.
