Richard Strauss
Originally released in 1959, this recording of Richard Strauss's tone poems Till Eulenspiegel and Tod und Verklärung was Fritz Reiner's first collaboration with the Vienna Philharmonic after the Second World War. The orchestra was one of the stars of the Decca programme and Reiner's artistic work was inextricably linked with the works of Richard Strauss.
The sound engineer for this recording from Vienna's Sofiensäle was James Brown, who captured the rich sound of the excellent musicians in first-class fashion. Willem Makee remastered the analogue tapes for Analogue Productions.
We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" CD/DVD conditioner for even more sonic improvement.
