Velvet Opera
Reissued 1970 album. Fascinating example of a legendary British underground band developing its song writing skills in the early Seventies. Featuring the vocal talents of the underrated Elmer Gantry, the group also included John Ford and Richard Hudson, who wrote most of the material. They would later go on to fame I the Strawbs and wrote hits for their own successful group Hudson Ford. Elmer Gantry resurfaced later in the rock band Stretch. The CD includes 12 excellent originals, plus a cover version of the Beatles 'Eleanor Rigby.'
