Major Jake Thorpe is assigned to Quang Tin Province to investigate a murder. The investigation is tangled and thwarted by Lt. Colonel King, Jake's unscrupulous new boos; by Colonel Biet, the corrupt Province Chief; and by the perplexing problems of war and intercultural differences. Concurrently, Sgt. Mark Fellogese, a radio operator in the US tactical operations center, has a love affair with Co Li, who is torn between her love for Mark and her duty to her father.
