Beyond Reason: 11 Dark Stories of Human Discovery

Beyond Reason consists of eleven stories of discovery from within the imperfections of the human mind. Like us, its characters search the dark places of dreams for the key to meaning, but find themselves running from faceless monsters in the dark. Perhaps the monsters are the key. Like us, they search in art. They try to squeeze inside the suffering of others, hoping that what they seek might be found within the maze that makes up the mind of a tormented kindred soul. To their dismay, the mutterings of other madmen simply compound the questions in their heads. Perhaps the mutterings of other madmen are the questions they need ask. Like us, some turn to the world within: to reason. In reason they finally think they've found truth, but are soon disappointed to find that reason is fallible. They find that reason is the enemy, causing human beings nothing but horror and distress. Under the influence of reason, a child vanishes into the recesses of seizure, a young girl learns an unpleasant truth about angels and gods, and a man discovers that his only happy memory is someone else's fantasy. From beyond the clutches of reason, the amorous gifts of concepts are considered, and hope is born monthly in demonic form. Perhaps it is in the very fallibility of reason that truth exists.
