The year is 2040 A. D. America has gone the way of the Roman Empire. A new kind of democracy, the golfocracy, governs the former Americans. A new culture flowers along with new words-PuraThought, footballers, sexballers. Our hero, Charles Cue, a young American correspondent back in 2005, survives the years to the changeover. He writes for the golfocracy's first chief of state, President Duffer. He supports many of the ideas of Duffer, a woman, but is troubled by her plan to kill some "terrorists" in Canada who seek to "bring back America." Cue learns that the leader of the terrorists is his missing son. The author of this book feels only disgust for the sexballers and their motto Amour Is a Sport. Yet he can't help but wonder if the picture of himself (below) shows a certain developing hypocrisy early on.
