Directions for Singing - Choir / Piano: a Musical Celebration of the Life and Work of Charles Wesley
Charles Wesley
Directions for Singing is an accessible and fresh choral and orchestral work based on Charles Wesley's instructions to Methodists regarding hymn singing in the church. John Wesley narrates the work in between each movement commenting about his brother in a poignant and sometimes humorous manner.
On February 18, 2007, nearly 400 Methodist singers representing all five jurisdictions will be presenting a world premiere work celebrating the 300th anniversary of Charles Wesley's birth at Lincoln Center in Avery Fischer Hall accompanied by the New York based New Amsterdam Orchestra.
