In 1776, Patrick County was cut off of Pittsylvania County and was named for Patrick Henry. When first formed, Henry County embraced the whole of what is now Patrick County and the greater portion of present Franklin County, VA. These deeds include many bills of sale; trust deeds; powers of attorney; dower right releases; names of counties and states where the grantor has taken up residence or plans to reside; leases; damage suits; inquisitions into death; deeds of gifts; bonds and contracts.
