The Abbey of Paisley (Paisley Collection S)
J. Cameron Lees
Originally published in 1878. The importance of the Abbey in the history of Scotland is established through a review of monastic history, the foundation of the Priory which became the Abbey, the early kings of Scotland, the accession of the Stewarts and associated royal patronage, and the later Abbots. After the Dissolution, Paisley's role in subsequent Scottish Church history includes consideration of the Covenant and of Witchcraft.
