Twelve-year-old Paul sells the Evening Edition of the Denver Post on street corners and saloons in post WWII Denver during the school year, and explores the city with his little brother, Joe, in the summer. One day, as he is peddling his papers, Paul is approached by a strange man who tells him Joe has been in an accident and offers to give Paul a ride to the hospital. But the man and his accomplice kidnap Paul instead, and the city boy is off on a forced adventure on a ranch deep in the Rocky Mountains. Part memoir, part fiction, the story will be fun for any "kid" from 5 to 100.
