The Silent Voice of Grief is a collection of free verse poetry and prose that chronicles the spiritual journey of grief and sorrow after the death of a loved one. The poems were written during a two-year span after the death of the author's son, as a way to turn grief and sorrow into acquiescence and loving remembrance.

Nineteen years later, Hernon is finally ready to release this deeply personal work into the world. She hopes that other parents who have lost a child to death-from addiction or other causes-may find solace and understanding in the lines of this work. The depth of sadness that one feels after loss is not often understood by those who stand outside the tragedy, and there is comfort to be had in seeing those experiences reflected in the written word.
