What exactly is water pollution? Water pollution is when harmful chemicals, waste, or other foreign objects cause a water body (i.e. rivers, seas, lakes) to be unsafe for the aquatic wildlife that needs the water in order to live. This may lead to death of the aquatic life, which is also known as eco-ocide. The death or damage caused by water pollution can sometimes be irreversible and cause irreparable damage to aquatic wildlife.
