Through determination and skill, he worked his way up in the ranks, eventually becoming senior vice president and head of his own bank division. He then left the bank to start his own entertainment financing business, which he later sold to a large California bank. After forty-eight years in the business, Horwitz retired in 2004. He has been working ever since as a consultant for the film industry and financial institutions. He also acts as an expert witness for law firms throughout the country. Horwitz has been married to his wife for fifty-nine years. Together, they have three children and seven grandchildren.
