She thought it was too good to be true when Rhian showed up at her foster home with a DNA test claiming to be her sister. Little did Brynlee know how life-changing this revelation would be. Sort of a Utopian, clean-living, high-tech, all-inclusive hill with no need to go down into the small farm town below. When she joined the local Halo academy, she soon realized that it was not an academic institution, but a training facility. But they're training for peace, not war. Unaware of the chaos that was transpiring in the world outside of the academy, Brynlee learned that the elite hillside community has been slowly making progress in attaching its sticky threads to weave a web across the nation for years. Those who fear the spider will soon discover how they need the valuable predator to survive. With the government takeover and newly claimed monarch system, the days of poverty and economic hardship for the nation will be over. But nothing comes without a sacrifice.
