Vee is a young princess exiled for her affiliation with a systemically oppressed race of magic users called D'aille. Homeless, constantly pursued through the eastern city of Aloessia and living in shadows, the D'aille girl is befriended by twin refugees from the outlier Isle of Jem. As the continent of Sommerland is faced with an existential threat unlike any in its recent history, the trio's quest to spread the ashes of Vee's birth mother at a remote D'aille reserve pits them against sadistic bounty hunters, city-wide revolts, endless wastelands and cataclysmic showdowns with a threat that could destroy all of Sommerland- if the continent's age-old conflicts don't tear it apart first.
A story of unlikely friendship, EMBERS OF ALOESSIA is the first foray into an original world where its Emperor enslaves magic, a Mad God lies in wait and ships from the sea have mysteriously appeared, delivering flaming arrows to human settlements the world over.
Individuality is a tricky thing.
