Chronological Problems of the Iiird Egyptian Dynasty: a Re-examination of the Archaeological Documents (British Archaeological Reports British Series)

A fresh look at the inscriptions, backed up by architectural developments and the geographical distribution of finds, to try and clear up some of the knotty problems which crop up in regard to the Third Dynasty. There is currently no agreement as to the sequence of third dynasty pharaohs, the number of pharaohs, or indeed their names. Estimates of the length of the dynasty range from 50 to 100 years. Among other conlcusions Ilaria Incordino identifies Sanakht as the founder of the dynasty, and also attempts some reconsttruction of his reign.
