"The Hills that Beckon" lure the reader into a time when life was slow paced. Life was simple and pleasures were enjoyed in story telling. This is the story of a family that lived from the 1790's to the 1940's in an area of northwest Madison County, Kentucky. The area includes Poosey Ridge which is located between Silver and Paint Lick Creeks. From time to time the author exits the story line of the family in question to include other families as well as focusing on individuals in the area. Churches, schools and country stores are highlighted as well as the many branch roads that are found there. There is some local humor as well as some folklore included. The author attempts to share with his readers his account of lifestyles in this rural area of Kentucky in the nineteenth and early twentieth century. The author also shares some personal knowledge of some of these events as well as some personal experiences from this simpler and to some, happier time.
