The Way It Was: then and Now
Annie Grady
I am writing to let others (young people) know how it was to be the oldest of siblings also how hard it was working on a farm back in the early days when salary was very little, and how poor families had to struggle just to survive. The young people of today should be very proud not having to do the things we did, such as cutting wood, picking cotton, bringing in the water and many other chores. They should be thankful for running water and electricity also television and other electronic devices. Also back in the thirties thru the sixties we had to deal with discrimination which made life twice as hard.
