The novel is a literary oddity in that it cuts across three genre: metaphysical, science fiction and love story.... Jason wakes up in a hospital bed severely injured and with retrograde amnesia. He can't seem to recall the accident or even his name. The doctors appear completely baffled by his spontaneous healing. Although his memories still elude him, an acute but vague sense of urgency continues to plague him.
Jason's affliction with amnesia prohibits him from realizing that two other cohorts have accompanied him on his mission. One of the individuals happens to be his former lover named April. Hence, an unstable love triangle will blossom with Jason, a prostitute- named Laura and April.
Another theme deals with the use and abuse of power. Jason encounters an organized crime figure named Bull. While dwarf- like in stature, Bull has similar powers to Jason's. Slowly through time, Bull has come to recognize the futility of power. As the lure for power loses its glitter, Bull's son- Derek- is still subservient to its intoxicating influence. Under his father's masterful training, Derek's powers now exceed that of his teacher. Father and son become enmeshed in a deadly battle where power becomes the final arbiter. And the deadly masquerade of the second messiah is set into motion...
