How do you concoct a bridge over the treacherous waters of the generation gap? One recipe that helped to connect the two groups was the book some students in St. Regis, Montana wrote during the 2005-2006 school year. First, we tossed into our mixing bowl seventeen students from St. Regis School, a rural school with 150 students including kindergarten through twelfth grade. We gently added fourteen community members brave enough to agree to be interviewed by teenagers. Fold in an extremely cool miniature video camera; add some interview practice so the students can watch themselves on television. Simmer through an interesting interview and watch the new understanding rise.
