Arnold Bennett
Arnold Bennett (1867-1931) began as a journalist, then turned to writing novels full-time. His 1904 Teresa of Watling Street was inspired by his own move to Trinity Hall Farm, Hockliffe, Bedfordshire, on Watling Street, where his own father died in 1902.
