Light in The Darkness
Dan Evangelista
Several years ago, the initiation of a program known as a "Magnet School" was proposed for a handful of middle schools in the Bronx. It was proposed that children would be selected from the surrounding area to participate for three years in an accelerated and enhanced academic program which would test the limits to which those children could be developed. "Light in The Darkness" is the story of a group of children who were brought together in one particular school, to ultimately prove over the next three years that there were no limits. During the time they spent together, they grew to become their own unique kind of "family." They overcame every obstacle and challenge before them, whether personally or as a group, and reached to heights no one could have previously imagined. From their success in virtually every form of intellectual competition they participated in, to academic achievements no one could have imagined, to their ultimate and perhaps most valuable successes in learning the meanings of grace, honor, dignity, and togetherness .
