These pages chronicle the occult detective mysteries of Dr. Anaxagoras "Nax" Venn-alienist, master of ancient languages, and expert on things praeternatural-and his two compatriots who battle "against the Dark" in the years 1887-1888. In the first adventure, Venn and his friend and colleague in such endeavors, clairvoyant and exorcist priest, Father Azor Sullivan, S. This Victorian triumvirate of investigators of the Weird, the Supernatural, and the Occult take their place alongside the characters of the rich tradition of the genre of the Occult Detective. This collection also features the magnificent cover and interior artwork of Yves Tourigny-certainly one of the premier illustrators of our era.
