Unique landforms and Cahuilla cultural heritage, combined with early agricultural and commercial endeavors and the iconic La Quinta Hotel, would shape and develop this extraordinary area from ancient times through the 1980s. Building on these historic and strategic foundations, local residents and leaders worked tirelessly toward incorporating La Quinta, with their sustained efforts leading to fruition on May 1, 1982. La Quinta, known as the Gem of the Desert, continues to grow rapidly and flourish, welcoming all to its friendly locale as in days past.
