A humorous look at one person's efforts to 'get with the programme' and lose those excess pounds. What are the typical stumbling blocks? Where do I acquire that elusive willpower? Why is my attitude to food my biggest weakness? Are there psychological undertones to my lifelong struggle . . .or???

There are no quick-fixes in this book, no advice and no miracle cures, just me - Pearl Barley - telling a tale that flows from the sublime to the ridiculous!

This is real life humour, and many individuals will understand the continual dilemmas in a tale that spans 25 years of yo-yo dieting - punishing and suffering for a cause and a battle that is never won.

I describe it as Bridget Jones's Diary-esque (big baggy knickers sadly appropriate) given my dry wit with a smattering of sarcasm, moans, groans and self-pity thrown in, but also my way of looking at the sometimes funny side of serious aspects of ordinary life.

"I've lost weight hundreds of times; I just can't keep the weight off " is a familiar cry, and I have been striving to do just that since my teens. Now, in later years and still battling the bulge, I've put these dieting diary entries together and the fat bag title is a play on words that resonates throughout the whole book, which includes chapters entitled... "This Little Piggie Went to Town" ... "Mind Over Platter" ... "Not All Menus Are Created Equal" and ..."My Cup Runneth Over"!

Don't get me wrong; it's not a tale of woe - far from it. The truth is laid bare in down-to-earth, honest accounts enveloped in an entertainment factor in an issue wherein we've all..."Been There, Done That, & Bulged Out of the Tee Shirt", in a world where all 'forbidden fruit' is just so ..."Finger-Lickin' Good" but as the old saying goe ...: "What Don't Kill Will Fatten"!

Laugh along to an issue we can all relate to.  Be warned:  You will find NO dieting tips or useful diet and exercise advice within the pages of this book!
