Lauren Pritchard, attractive young American, has recently returned home from her Zen-Buddhist studies at a monastery in Japan. As a parting gift from her teacher-monk Dorj Kito, she receives the elusive and mysterious StoneHeart. While moving into her new home in New York, Lauren meets former mariner, Robert Tomlin, who helps her and is captivated by Lauren's beauty and oriental ways. Lauren in turn, is drawn to Robert's secular lifestyle and worldliness. Both are fascinated by the StoneHeart-though all too soon Lauren is confronted with a life-challengimg dilemma; whether to marry Robert and remain in the States, or go back to the spiritual Zen-Buddhist life she knew in Japan.-She wants them both.
