John Buchan
John Buchan, 1st Baron Tweedsmuir (1875-1940) was a Scottish novelist, historian and Unionist politician who served as Governor General of Canada. Adventurers All contains: Huntingtower -- first of three novels about 55-year old grocer Dickson McCunn, who has sold his business and taken early retirement only to be swept out of his bourgeois rut into bizarre and outlandish adventures; John McNab -- the collective name for three successful but bored friends in their mid-forties who decide to turn to poaching but frolics and romance ensue; and The Three Hostages -- the further adventures of Richard Hannay, the hero of Buchan's best known novel, The Thirty-Nine Steps.
