Before Isabeau's birth, Queen Penelope, the most powerful mermaid in the ocean, decrees the little girl will bring great joy to her parents, the king and queen. But Isabeau, meaning one who cares, will be different. She will gain her strength from the water. Queen Penelope will be her protector; Xysta, the mermaid, will guide her; and Rafy, the narwhal, will aid Princess Isabeau on her journeys.

While Princess Isabeau knows nothing of her special gift, she believes in herself and leads the Seekers through an odyssey of multiple adventures and perils. Traveling the Eastern Caribbean Sea on a nutmeg boat, the Seekers face challenges at every step. While overcoming the trials, they meet new friends and learn about themselves and the meaning of friendship.
