We have all at one time or another felt this emotion and experienced the desire to resolve the hurt we have suffered no matter how great or minor the hurt. This novel depicts a wrong, of unimaginable proportions, inflicted against an officer of the law?s wife and his subsequent search for revenge. How, in this case, such a satisfactory resolution is extracted from the reality of life is the essence of the novel.
