Mikhail Aleksandrovich Vrubel (1856-1910) was a tragic figure with an unique artistic talent representing Fin de siecle of the Imperial Russia. This Full-length novel is depicting the lone painter's life, beginning from his youth, too late glory and up to the tragic last years, like a mosaic in the background of upheaval of the Russian history of his time. Based on the historical and biographical facts, the author sometimes imagines the inner worlds of many characters, making a large group portrait of artists and musicians representing the Russian culture of the last 2 decades of the 19th century.
