Tortoise continues to do his own thing. He does not care a damn about anybody. Is it lying, cunning, jealousy, negative pride, selfishness, getting into everybody's business, claiming to be wiser than everyone else only to end up acting like a fool, extorting money from his friends, often pretending to help when he is really out to hurt and trick them into trouble to get what he wants? But parents, grand parents, teachers and others who use these stories to inculcate good moral discipline into their children do care about their children's welfare, and do not want their children to exhibit any of Tortoise's terrible character flaws.
