Maddie Jameson and her fiancé, Greg Adams, were young, impetuous, and deeply in love. In one of her impetuous moments during the tall ships festival being held at Traverse City, Maddie teased Captain Jeff Harmon of the tall ship, Madison, asking if she and her fiancé could be married on board his ship as her name was Madison, and it would be wonderful to be married on board her namesake. Knowing Maddie from a previous sail, Captain Harmon reluctantly agreed, asking, when? Today, Saturday, she answered sweetly. Oh, and could she and Greg spend the first night of their honeymoon aboard the Madison? Again, Harmon reluctantly agreed. Sunday morning found Jeff noisily stomping the deck of his ship knowing his action would wake the kids. Nothing. He went below making more noise. Finally, calling out their names, he peeked inside their cabin, then cried out in horror. He stumbled back on deck, grabbed his phone and called 911. MURDER ON THE TALL SHIP ADISON! Within two weeks the murder investigation ground to a halt. Frustrated, Admiral Chester Adams, Greg's dad, called his former aide, now homicide detective Sam August, in Kemah, Texas, asking for help. "Where and when, Admiral?" Sam asked his old boss. "Traverse City, Michigan. NOW!!"
