After abandoning his dreams of joining the fabled Karmon Knights, Brace Hawkden is drawn into a dangerous quest to protect his kingdom from a mysterious band of mercenaries known as the Bright Order. Having been left unchecked, these dangerous men have established a foothold in an abandoned garrison, bringing terror and death to the simple folk of the kingdom's villages. With Sir Brom and a handful of Karmon Knights at his side, Brace must fight for his life to protect the people of his kingdom from the ruthless Bright Order soldiers. Joining them is Neffenmark, the son of a powerful lord and holder of much of the land around the White Mountains.
