The Communist Manifesto
Karl Marx
The Communist Manifesto, which was originally titled Manifesto of the Communist Party, is a political pamphlet written by German philosopher Karl Marx in 1848. The Communist Manifesto presents an analytical approach to the class struggle and the problems of capitalism and the capitalist mode of production, rather than a prediction of communism's potential future forms. The Communist Manifesto summarises Karl Marx's theories about the nature of society and politics, and it also briefly features Karl Marx's ideas for how the capitalist society of the time would eventually be replaced by socialism. In addition to his political ideologies, Karl Marx was a philosopher, economist, sociologist, journalist, and revolutionary socialist. Born in Prussia to a middle-class family, he later studied political economy, politics & social sciences, and Hegelian philosophy where much of his epistemology and political ideologies were formed. As an adult, Marx became stateless and spent much of his life in London, England, where he continued to develop his views on social sciences and philosophy in collaboration with German thinker Friedrich Engels and published various works, the most well known being the 1848 pamphlet The Communist Manifesto. Karl Marx's work has since influenced subsequent intellectual, economic, and political ideologies. Karl Marx's theories about society, economics, and politics are collectively understood as Marxism. Karl Marx's writings are often textbook required reading in various courses, such as humanities, epistemology, philosophy, and politics & social sciences. Karl Marx's most influential writing is The Communist Manifesto.
