Utopia
Thomas More
Utopia is a work of fiction and political philosophy written by Thomas More in 1516. The book is a frame narrative primarily depicting a fictional island society and its religious, politics & social sciences workings. Utopia also depicts the customs of the politics & government as well as the ideologies & doctrines of the fictional island society. Many aspects of Thomas More's description of Utopia are reminiscent of life in monasteries. Thomas More was an English lawyer, social philosopher, author, statesman and noted Renaissance humanist. He was also a councillor to Henry VIII, and Lord High Chancellor of England. Thomas More opposed the Protestant Reformation, in particular the theology of Martin Luther and William Tyndale.
