America's Bending Branches is prompted by current political events (2018). For America's Bending Branches to be best understood, it is necessary to briefly discuss medieval Europe, trace basics of English history, and bring the reader to the New World in the 17th and 18th centuries. We touch on the basics of early American history, the framers of the United States Constitution, the three branches of American governance, and the Bill of Rights. The reader will be taken through the American Revolution, the Civil War, major events in the 20th century, and early 21st century. Initially, there was an effort to remain completely impartial; however, as factual research and information confirmation was conducted, it became difficult not to develop a perspective. This bled into the narrative. Writing this non-fiction novel helped me better understand that too many are supping at the teet of the public trough. The purpose of writing America's Bending Branches was admittedly cathartic. The little people in America, like me, are not often heard except for, maybe, an allotted 15 minutes of fame. The concept of a representative bureaucracy comes into question when federal, state, and local legislators are more attentive to the media than "Joe the plumber" citizen.
