The Lover and the Liturgist
Amos Wilson
The Lover and the Liturgist represents two different ways of approaching poetry -- emphasizing the passion, or emphasizing the form. In this book, poet and author Amos Wilson gives 25 poems in the style of the Lover, and then 25 poems in the style of the Liturgist. It is his hope that this book would help to demonstrate the necessity of balancing our passion and our reason, not simply in our poetry, but also in our worship of God. It is also his hope that these poems would serve to clearly illustrate the Gospel -- our depravity, God's justice, God's redemption or mankind through His Son Jesus Christ, and our raptured response to this good news. "For God so loved the world, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
