The story of this novel unfolds during the Second World War where the occurrences of the events portray the lucky survival of a sailor in the reality of an unwanted war for all the Italians. The hopes of success for Italy were very slim or non-existing and the Government of the Italian Kingdom after the arrest of Mussolini, failed in its leadership by transferring all its insecurities onto the already unprotected civil and military people, who where left in the brutal retaliation of the Nazist. The personage of this story, Rocco, besides surviving by his own instinct the chaotic time of the dangerous nazist take over, he also remained untouched from those same events that affected others by the intuitive intervention of his young spouse who stood up with the strength of all her love and faith to keep the marriage and him untouched from alienation.

Andrea G. Parrella was born in Brusciano (Napoli) Italy and moved to the USA in 1972. He is a Civil Engineer who served the Department of Transportation of New Jersey in the Division of Designs and Construction for thirty-one years. However, besides his technical studies his interests have always been history and literature. Early in his life he wrote several poems and various short theaters plays. This novel is his first literary work to reach publication.
