Lady Susan

This epistolary novel consists of 41 letters written by and for the main characters. It is a work of youth, complete, but never submitted by the author for publication. Describes the plans of the protagonist, the recently widowed Lady Susan, while looking for a new husband and at the same time tries to marry his daughter of 16 years with Sir James. Lady Susan is a very attractive woman for her age (over thirty) but selfish, who tries to catch the most suitable husband possible while maintaining a relationship with a married man. The play subverts all the rules of the romantic novel: she has an active role, not only is beautiful, but also intelligent and witty, and her suitors are significantly younger than her.
