This book covers five hundred years of history, providing a kaleidoscopic view of the island's past. This updated edition includes new contributions on the Vieques Controversy and the Political Status Dilemma.

Marc Notes: Previous edition: 2008.; Includes bibliographical references and index.; An essential sourcebook for a better understanding of the Puerto Ricans. The editors believe that their experience as a people has been obscured by propaganda and that a subtle brand of colonialism still endures, and they prove both points.
