Outlawed from the Arbynian Empire, Vyn is forced on an impossible journey through the wild Midlands. Fortunately for Vyn, he encounters distant relatives among the sorcerous Gadisheas still dwelling in the heart of the mysterious Midlands. After learning that the mixed race Vyn has inherited special abilities, the Gadisheas insist that he undertakes a dangerous quest to retrieve a vile tome of forgotten demonic lore. Unsure about his Gadishea great-grandfather's motives--yet enchanted beyond all his good sense by the beautiful Gadishea maid, Elvishka--he reluctantly agrees. Inside demon-haunted ruins, Vyn recovers the tome along with other treasures--one of which leads to the demon bane's folly and will haunt him until the day he dies.
