A delightful travel account of a journey from New Orleans to Belize and through Honduras, Nicaragua and into Panama, ending up in Venezuela. Davis later wrote lots of fiction but here as a young man he larks his way through a part of the world that was scarcely known to Americans. The Panama Canal was still in the hands of the French and travel was arduous and time-consuming.
