He is best known for being a catalyst in researching, diagnosing, and inoculating for the flu virus, and was instrumental in the eradication of Smallpox. Dr. Meiklejohn was the son of Alexander Meiklejohn. He excelled in academics and sports, especially ice hockey, and was twice invited to participate on the U. S. Olympic Hockey teams.
