Imagine you're at the height of a fabulous career, but at the age of fifty, you realize that none of it is worth it, and you decide to disappear. You sail into the Caribbean, land on a small and little known island, and after walking south, and far from civilization, you find a job as the custodian of the South Island School, a rickety-old school building that accommodates all twelve grades. You are in heaven. You're beginning to relax. But shortly after your arrival, everything changes. You're ambushed in the school parking lot by a twelve-year-old kid named Robert and his band of misfit companions, and he informs you that even though this is soccer country, they're going to play basketball, and you'll be their coach.
