Asthma: A Clinical Approach

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting the airways of the lungs. It causes recurring reversible airflow obstruction, and triggers bronchospasms. Chest tightness, wheezing, shortness of breath and coughing are typical of asthmatic episodes. The diagnosis of asthma is based on the symptoms, spirometry and response to therapy over time.
