Ophiolatreia, (Or Serpent Worship), by British Freemason, Rosicrucian, occult and esoteric author Hargrave Jennings, was originally published in an anonymous series called Nature Worship and Mystical Series in 1889. The work is the definitive study of snake worship throughout the ancient world, in which Jennings developed the theory that the origin of all religion is to be found in the phallus worship of the sun and fire, which he termed "phallism". Ophiolatreia being just one of these phallic worshipping practices. Jennings draws on a multitude of ancient historical cultures and theologies, spanning multiple continents and ages to prove his point.
