A young woman, May falls in love with a soldier during the Second World War. She reluctantly leaves her native shores on the Island of, St Helena, to follow her him back to England. In England, she experiences, war, torn love, motherhood and prejudice. After the war, with the return of her beloved, she suffers heartache, living with a man she doesn't even know anymore.
