Addiction usually occurs in multiples. The things that lead people into addiction lead them into more than one addiction. For many, if not for most, one of the manifestations of addiction is found in how they express themselves sexually. When the outward expression of addiction to drugs or alcohol is overcome, frequently the underlying sexual addiction remains. Also, addiction results in broken relationships because of the nature of the sins of addiction. When someone puts addiction behind them they want to normalize relationships and often want to get married. This volume cautions about rushing into relationships. It also warns about mistakenly thinking that problems with sexual sins will be remedied by marriage. Former addicts who have turned to Jesus need to be careful to be patient and to learn to walk closely with Jesus before rushing into relationships with the opposite sex.
